Renowned Australian cricketer David Warner had expressed his family’s deep affection for India and their special connection with the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, due to the IPL’s relocation to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) amidst the ongoing challenges posed by Covid-19, Warner’s children missed out on their beloved annual tradition.
In a previous conversation with sports journalist Boria Majumdar, David Warner had shared the fondness his family held for India, especially during the IPL season. He had mentioned that his family relished the opportunity to visit India, where they got to meet and interact with a multitude of people. For his children, the IPL had been a cherished part of their calendar. They had particularly enjoyed supporting his team and experiencing unique Indian adventures, such as riding Tuk Tuks in Hyderabad.
“My family love coming to India as they get to meet a love of people. It is their favourite part of the calendar. They love supporting the team and riding Tuk Tuk in Hyderabad,” he said.
“This has been the hardest thing of a bubble life as I am unable to share these times with the kids,” he added.
Warner had expressed his melancholy over the situation at the time, describing it as the most challenging aspect of the “bubble life” that had become a norm for athletes. He had been disheartened that his children couldn’t partake in those special moments that had come to define their connection with India and the IPL. This heartfelt sentiment had reflected the strong bonds that cricket creates not only on the field but also in the hearts of players and their families.
