Another encounter of the World Cup 2023 was done by Sri Lanka. It was an incredible performance by Sri Lanka. Again it was hard luck for England. England and Sri Lanka locked horns at the M. Chinnaswamy. It was an absolute stunner. Sri Lankan bowlers dominated the English lineup in the entire game. England recorded one more loss in the tournament. 

In this clash, England won the toss and decided to bat first. Sri Lankan bowlers used this momentum perfectly. Initially, England gave a decent start. Jonny Bairstow scored 30 runs in 31 balls. The other opener, Dawid Malan scored 28 runs in 25 balls. Joe Root got out by scoring only 3 runs. Ben Stokes played an innings of 43 runs in 73 balls. No other English players left any impact on the game. 

In this match, Sri Lankan bowlers were in the beast mode. Veteran Sri Lankan all-rounder Angelo Mathews got the first success on behalf of his team. After that, he did an amazing run out of Joe Root. Lahiru Kumara played extremely well. He picked up 3 wickets in 35 runs. Angelo Mathews ended up picking 2 wickets in 14 runs. Kasun Rajitha picked up 2 wickets in 36 runs. Dilshan Madushanka is there in the top 10 highest wicket-takers list with 11 wickets. But in the match against England, he didn’t take any wickets.

In the second innings, Sri Lanka started well. Pathum Nissanka played a knock of unbeaten 77 runs in 83 balls. Sadeera Samarawickrama stayed not out by scoring 65 runs in 54 balls. Only David Willy picked up 2 wickets in 30 runs. No other English bowler took any wickets.
