Shubman Gill Reflects on Invaluable Lessons Learned from Cricket Icons Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma

In a stellar display of batting prowess, Indian opener Shubman Gill has once again demonstrated his cricketing mettle by surpassing 1,400 ODI runs in the year 2023. Gill’s remarkable achievement came during his remarkable 92-run knock in match 33 of the ODI World Cup, held at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Despite missing the opening two games of the ODI World Cup, Gill has showcased sublime form throughout the tournament. In the recent encounter against Sri Lanka, he played a crucial role in India’s dominant performance. After an early dismissal of captain Rohit Sharma (4), Gill partnered with Virat Kohli (88) to forge a spectacular 189-run second-wicket stand. This partnership propelled India to a formidable total of 357 for 8, with Shreyas Iyer also contributing an attacking 82. Gill’s exceptional innings saw him top-scoring with 92 runs, further solidifying his reputation as one of India’s premier batsmen.

Gill’s 92-run inning was laced with 11 boundaries and two sixes, a testament to his controlled and authoritative batting style. His partnership with Kohli set the tone for India’s substantial total, leaving Sri Lanka with a challenging target to chase.

After the impressive innings, talking to the broadcasters, Gill talked about the learnings from Virat and Rohit. Gill said that he has learnt to minimize the dot bal percentage from Virat Kohli and the skills of hitting the ball from Rohit Sharma.
