ICC dismisses Sri Lanka Cricket over political interference

A sturdy breakthrough has come on the way of the Sri Lanka team’s cricket career as after a tumultuous week, the International Cricket Council has decided on a decision that came as a shock for the whole of cricket World. The ICC Board has decided to let go off Sri Lanka Cricket’s membership due to unavoidable circumstances which are still not properly known. There is no knowledge to what effect the Board has decided to cancel SLC’s membership, but this is an appalling move considering the career of many of the Sri Lankan players’ fate and the development of Sri Lankan Cricket.
Standing reason for the suspension
Though the main reason stated by ICC is the continuous governmental interference in the Sri Lanka Cricket affairs and conduct, the complete reason still remains unknown. The board took the decision in immediate effect after its complaint of breach of obligations by the SLC and didn’t take the warnings seriously that led to its suspension putting the Sri Lankan team’s career in danger.
ICC’s official statement released
The news has taken the internet by storm after the International Cricket Council officially announced the suspension of the SLC in its official website. The astounding move was remarked by “The ICC Board met today and determined that Sri Lanka Cricket is in serious breach of its obligations as a Member, in particular, the requirement to manage its affairs autonomously and ensure that there is no government interference in the governance, regulation or administration of cricket in Sri Lanka.” It further stated that “The conditions of the suspension will be decided by the ICC Board in due course.”
Also to notice, just a week before, Angelo Mathews’ timed out dismissal came as a shocking development in the history of the World Cup. Though the incident is nowhere related to SLC’s suspension, it still has some significance in terms of bad luck for the Sri Lankan team.
