How can Afghanistan still qualify for semi final after losing to Australia?

Even after suffering a heart-breaking three-wicket defeat at the hands of Australia in the ongoing ODI World Cup, Afghanistan are still in the race to qualify for the semi-finals of the marquee tournament. To do so, the Hashmatullah Shahidi-led side will expect New Zealand and Pakistan to lose their matches at the hands of Sri Lanka and England respectively. 

However, even if both or either of New Zealand or Pakistan manage to win, Afghanistan will have to win by a significant margin to better their Net Run Rate (NRR) to qualify for the semis. Notably, the Afghanistan team will face South Africa at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad next.
