Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, Pakistan and New Zealand locked horns against each other with Babar’s Men emerging victorious, which was actually an unlikely result. With the Black Caps posting a phenomenal target of 401 with 6 wickets down, Pakistan were reduced to a target of 180 runs which they easily reached through, by the DLS method.
With Pakistan having decided to bowl first, New Zealand’s batsmen Rachin Ravindra and Kane Williamson played wonderful knocks with Ravindra smashing a breathtaking century of 108 runs off 94 deliveries, while Williamson displaying on his mastery with smashing 95 runs off 79 deliveries.
In a reply to New Zealand’s mammoth total of 401 runs, Pakistani batsman Fakhar Zaman reckoned on his extraordinary batting prowess giving his all to smash an unbeaten 126-run century off just 81 deliveries against the Kiwis. His brilliancy led the Men in Green to an important win keeping the team’s expectations alive to mark its presence in the semi-finals on the ongoing tournament.

Post their win, Pakistan Cricket Board Chief Zaka Ashraf took to his Twitter handle to laud Fakhar Zaman for his unforgettable and remarkable performance against the Black Caps. In the tweet, Zaka Ashraf asserted that the batsman will be given Rs 1 million as a gesture of respect, saving Pakistan from the brink of elimination, which it was likely to face after an inconsistent performance throughout the tournament.
During a phone conversation with Fakhar Zaman, Zaka Ashraf praised the batter for his extraordinary execution in the game showing gratification. Fakhar Zaman’s century against the Kiwis also stands as the fastest century for team Pakistan in their history of World Cup.
