Ravindra Jadeja managed to secure 5 wickets as the renowned Indian bowling lineup tore through the South African batsmen, dismissing them for a mere 83 runs. This dominant performance allowed the hosts to secure a resounding victory with a margin of 243 runs, maintaining their unbeaten streak.

In the earlier part of the match, India, led by Virat Kohli, posted a total of 326 for 5 against South Africa at the Eden Gardens. This remarkable feat served as a fitting celebration for Kohli’s 35th birthday. Kohli reached the milestone of an unbeaten century (101 runs) by scoring a single run off Kagiso Rabada in the 49th over of the Indian innings. The enthusiastic crowd at Eden Gardens cheered him on throughout the match. Before this match against South Africa, Kohli had narrowly missed his 49th ODI century during India’s previous game against Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium.

Kohli, along with Shreyas Iyer (77), established a brilliant 134-run partnership for the third wicket, with Iyer delivering an exceptional performance. Earlier in the game, Captain Rohit Sharma’s quick 40 runs off 24 balls provided India with a strong start. Suryakumar Yadav contributed 22 runs off 14 balls, and Ravindra Jadeja finished with an unbeaten 29 runs off 15 balls, ensuring that India concluded their innings in a commanding fashion.

Under Rohit Sharma’s leadership, the Indian team has enjoyed a spectacular World Cup campaign so far. Both the Indian bowlers and batsmen have excelled. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been the driving forces behind India’s batting, while the trio of Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Jasprit Bumrah have displayed exceptional control over the white ball, moving it as they desire.
